Chief Raymond Zard, the esteemed Babalaje of Ibadan land and Chairman of Zard Group of Companies, has passed away. The industrialist and philanthropist died in The Netherlands on Sunday. Details surrounding the death of the octogenarian have yet to be disclosed, but tributes are already pouring in from across Nigeria.
Chief Zard was a prominent figure in Nigeria's industrial sector, owning several successful enterprises including Zartech Farms, Kopek Construction Limited, Vina International Limited, Ibadan International School, and Sweetco Foods Limited.
Senator Sharafadeen Alli, representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, expressed deep sorrow over the loss. He described Chief Zard's death as a significant blow not only to Ibadan but to the entire nation.
"Chief Zard's unparalleled leadership and vision were evident throughout his life. His conglomerate stands as a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to economic development," Alli remarked.
