Ibadan, Nigeria – The newly established Bayo & Bimpe Oyero Foundation has taken a significant step in improving healthcare and educational opportunities for the people of Ona Ara Local Government, Oyo State. The foundation, dedicated to interventions in health, education, poverty alleviation and widow support, recently organized a medical outreach program and sponsored the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fees for 50 students.
The foundation is an initiative in honour of Chief Mustafa Adebayo Oyero and his wife by their children. Chief Oyero is a distinguished indigene of Ibadanland and a respected figure in Oyo State. A former President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) and a highly regarded retired public administrator, Chief Oyero has played a vital role in the development of Ibadan, Oyo State, and Nigeria through his years of public service in the old Western State, Oyo State Civil Service and indeed at the federal level in various capacities.
The foundation’s activities commenced on March 29 with the payment of WAEC examination fees for 50 students, reinforcing its commitment to educational empowerment, in collaboration with the Ona Ara Development Forum (ODF). The following day, the foundation hosted a comprehensive medical outreach at Methodist Primary School, Odi-Odeyale.
During the outreach, local residents received essential medical support, including health screenings, medical consultations, and expert health advice. The event featured an informative health talk segment, where participants were educated on preventive healthcare measures. Additionally, free over-the-counter medications were distributed to improve the general well-being of attendees.
The outreach event was graced by distinguished personalities, including Chief Bayo Oyero and his wife Alhaja Surura Oyero; their children - Dr. Bisola Oyero: a UK based GP partner and Engineer Eniola Oyero; the leadership of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), led by President-General Chief Sulaiman Ajeniyi Ajewole; Mogaji Saheed Oyero and legal luminary Chief Kazeem Gbadamosi (KGB) SAN. Other notable attendees included Honorable Akinwole Akinleye, Chairman Akinyele Local Government; Honorable Kehinde Olatunde Taofik, a member of the House of Representatives representing Akiyele constituency II; Chairman of Ona Ara Development Forum, Alhaji Kola Bolomope; Dr. Bashiru Olanrewaju, former Permanent Secretary of the Oyo State Civil Service; as well as several past Amirahs of FOMWAN in Oyo state.
The event also attracted several consultant doctors from the diaspora, including Dr Olayinka Olukoya, Dr Kayode Ojewumi as well as Dr. Kehinde Adigun (consultant family physician from the University College Hospital, Ibadan, who was the expert who delivered a comprehensive, well rounded health talk in fluent Yoruba language.
These impactful initiatives served as pre-launch events for the Bayo & Bimpe Oyero Foundation, marking a strong beginning for its mission to foster sustainable development in health, education and poverty alleviation within Oyo State and beyond.
