Nigeria may be on the verge of another round of fuel scarcity as the *National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO)* has directed its members to *suspend tanker programming and loading operations at the Dangote Refinery*, effective immediately.
The decision, according to NARTO leadership, is a protest against the *Lagos State Government’s enforcement of the E-call-up system* at the *Lekki Port corridor*. NARTO alleges that the rigid enforcement is hampering the efficient movement of petroleum tankers, leading to bottlenecks and revenue losses.
The *Dangote Refinery*, which recently began domestic distribution of petroleum products, has become a crucial part of Nigeria’s fuel supply chain. The suspension of tanker loading activities, if prolonged beyond 48 hours, could *trigger a widespread fuel scarcity*, particularly across major urban centers already battling supply inconsistencies.
Industry stakeholders and logistics operators are urging immediate intervention from both *Lagos State authorities* and the *Federal Government* to prevent the disruption from spiraling into a full-blown national crisis.
A NARTO executive, speaking anonymously, warned, “If nothing changes in the next two days, expect queues to begin forming at filling stations.”
Efforts to reach the Lagos Ministry of Transportation and the Dangote Group for official responses are still ongoing at the time of reporting.
