In a significant move to strengthen unity and preserve legislative legacy, the Speaker of the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, hosted members of the 8th Assembly to an exclusive dinner in Ibadan on Wednesday night.
During the gathering, Ogundoyin officially unveiled the *8th Oyo Assembly Forum*—a non-partisan platform designed to foster camaraderie, promote the welfare of former legislators, and institutionalize a culture of enduring public service beyond party lines.
Reflecting on his personal growth, Ogundoyin highlighted the importance of the 8th Assembly to his political career. “That was where I found my footing,” he noted. “Today, I stand as Speaker of the 10th Assembly, and this initiative is deeply personal to me.”
The evening also served as a moment of tribute. The forum paid heartfelt homage to fallen colleagues, including *Rt. Hon. Michael Adeyemo* (former Speaker from Ibarapa East), *Hon. Kehinde Subair* (ex-Majority Leader), *Hon. Gideon* (Oorelope), and *Hon. Jimoh* (Ibarapa North and Central). Their contributions were described as “invaluable” and their memories “eternally cherished.”
Ogundoyin extended appreciation to *Rt. Hon. Gunju Ojo*, Chairman of the forum, and all former lawmakers who graced the occasion.
“This forum will serve as a structured bridge between past and present Assemblies, creating a unified voice for former lawmakers and laying a foundation that future generations can build upon,” he concluded.
