INEC Deploys 7,726 BVAS Machines for August 16 By-Elections Across 12 States

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the deployment of 7,726 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines in preparation for the upcoming by-elections scheduled for August 16, 2025. These elections will take place across 16 constituencies in 12 states, involving over 3.5 million registered voters.

Deployment Details: 
INEC's comprehensive plan includes the allocation of 30,451 officials to oversee the electoral process. The BVAS machines, which facilitate both fingerprint and facial recognition, are part of INEC's commitment to enhancing the credibility and transparency of elections in Nigeria.

States and Constituencies Involved:
The by-elections will be conducted in the following states and constituencies:

- Anambra State: Anambra South Senatorial District and Onitsha North I State Constituency.

- Edo State: Edo Central Senatorial District and Ovia South West/Ovia South East Federal Constituency.

- Jigawa State: Babura/Garki Federal Constituency.

- Kaduna State: Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Zaria Kewaye, and Basawa State Constituencies.

- Kano State: Bagwai/Shanono State Constituency.

The deployment of 7,726 BVAS machines across 12 states signifies INEC's proactive approach to enhancing the integrity of Nigeria's electoral system.
