Jail Didn’t Break Me, It Made Me: Terry Apala Exposes EFCC In New EP

Terry Apala Breaks Silence on EFCC Arrest with Defiant EP 'Not Guilty' Set for August 15 Release

Nigerian Afro-Fusion artist Terry Apala is turning personal adversity into artistic expression with his upcoming EP, *Not Guilty*, slated for release on August 15, 2025. The project serves as a direct response to his arrest earlier this year by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged naira mutilation.
🎤 From Courtroom to Studio: The Backstory

On January 5, 2025, during a social event at La Madison Place in Oniru, Lagos, Terry Apala was accused of trampling on naira notes while dancing—a violation under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007. He was arraigned on April 25 and remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending a bail hearing scheduled for May 5.
Maintaining his innocence, Apala pleaded not guilty and emphasized his voluntary return to Nigeria from the UK to address the charges.

🎶 'Not Guilty': A Musical Rebuttal

The "Not Guilty" EP comprises four tracks:

- *Not Guilty*
- *Jail Tales*
- *Grace in Disguise*
- *Echoes of Pain*
Produced and mixed by Flamez, the EP delves into themes of injustice, resilience, and the scrutiny faced by public figures. The cover art features a mock police lineup and newspaper clippings, symbolizing Apala's confrontation with the legal system.

🛡️ Addressing Allegations Beyond the Court

In addition to legal challenges, Apala faced public accusations from activist VeryDarkMan, who alleged bribery involving the EFCC. Apala refuted these claims, providing an alibi detailing his presence in the UK during the alleged incident and demanding a public apology to protect both his reputation and the integrity of the EFCC.

📅 Anticipation Builds for August 15 Release

As the release date approaches, fans and critics alike await Apala's *Not Guilty* EP, anticipating a raw and honest portrayal of his experiences. The project is expected to resonate with listeners who value authenticity and the fusion of traditional Apala sounds with contemporary Afrobeat.
