History was made on Saturday, August 16, 2025, as His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojájá II), the Ooni of Ife, conferred the highly revered chieftaincy title of Okanlomo Oodua on Engr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi, Chairman of Ilaji Hotel & Sports Resort, Ibadan.
The honour was bestowed during the official unveiling of 2GEDA, Nigeria’s first indigenous social media and business networking platform, held at the Ilaji International Hotel and Sports Resort, Akanran, Ibadan. The grand event marked a defining moment for Nigeria’s digital economy, blending culture, technology, and entrepreneurship.
Why Dotun Sanusi Was Honoured
Engr. Dotun Sanusi, a distinguished entrepreneur, philanthropist, and hospitality investor, has been at the forefront of economic empowerment, youth development, and cultural promotion in Oyo State and beyond. His contributions through Ilaji Resort—now a hub for sports, tourism, and entertainment—played a major role in his recognition as Okanlomo Oodua, meaning “a noble son of Oduduwa.”
The Ooni described Sanusi as a bridge-builder and cultural ambassador, whose initiatives continue to uplift Yorubaland and position it for both local and global relevance.
The 2GEDA Launch
The conferment coincided with the unveiling of 2GEDA, a groundbreaking Nigerian-owned social media and business networking platform co-founded by Mr. Emeka Eze. Unlike foreign platforms, 2GEDA is designed to promote indigenous innovation, foster business connections, and empower local entrepreneurs, while celebrating Africa’s cultural identity.
The launch event featured:
Live demonstrations of the 2GEDA mobile and web apps.
Keynote speeches on Nigeria’s digital sovereignty.
Traditional performances celebrating Yoruba heritage.
Attendance by royalty, dignitaries, captains of industry, and youth leaders.
2GEDA: A Digital Dawn for Nigeria
Now available for download on the App Store and Google Play Store, 2GEDA positions itself as a platform where social interaction meets business networking—creating a unique space for Nigerians and Africans to connect, collaborate, and grow.
Co-founder Mr. Emeka Eze described the platform as “a safe, inclusive, and innovative hub that reflects our cultural values while driving Africa’s economic growth.”
A New Era for Yorubaland
The conferment of Okanlomo Oodua on Engr. Dotun Sanusi, alongside the unveiling of 2GEDA, represents more than just titles and technology. It signals a renaissance of cultural pride, economic empowerment, and digital independence for Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole.
