Yerima Hosts Oyo Assembly Oversight Team in Ona Ara — Emerging Grassroots Leader Showcases Commitment to Good Governance

Ona Ara Local Government took center stage this week as Hon. Oluwafemi Abolade Gabriel (Yerima) — a rising political figure and sure-fire upcoming candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Ona Ara — warmly received members of the Oyo State House of Assembly Oversight Team during their official visitation to the council area.
The visit, part of the lawmakers’ constitutional mandate to ensure good governance and accountability across all Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Oyo State, saw the state legislators divided into teams across the three Senatorial Zones. Their mission: to review financial records, internally generated revenue (IGR) performance, expenditure patterns, and the progress of developmental projects at the grassroots.

In Ona Ara, the delegation was welcomed by Hon. Yerima alongside the Ona Ara Local Government Chairman, demonstrating a united leadership front committed to transparency, grassroots development, and alignment with Governor Seyi Makinde’s vision for a new Oyo State.

The Oversight exercise examined key areas such as:

Inspection of ongoing and completed projects including road construction, primary school renovations under SUBEB, and primary health care upgrades.

Review of budget performance, revenue, and expenditure management.

Meetings with the security architecture and traditional leadership to strengthen local peace and cooperation.

Speaking during the reception, Hon. Yerima praised the initiative, reaffirming that Ona Ara must be at the forefront of Oyo State’s grassroots transformation. He emphasized his personal commitment to transparent governance, innovative project execution, and people-centered policies that directly impact residents’ daily lives.

“This visit is not just an inspection — it’s an opportunity for Ona Ara to show that we are ready to lead by example,” Yerima stated confidently. “Our people deserve visible progress, prudent resource management, and leaders who put the community first. That’s my brand, and that’s the future we are building together.”

The visit also underscored Yerima’s growing political influence, positioning him as the preferred voice for Ona Ara at the State Assembly in the near future. His active engagement with state legislators, grassroots stakeholders, and the council leadership sent a clear signal: Yerima is not waiting for tomorrow to start working — the work has already begun.

With the backing of the Ona Ara Local Government Chairman and an unwavering focus on good governance, accountability, and community development, Yerima continues to strengthen his political brand as a dynamic leader ready to deliver results for his people.
