We, the Nigerian Youth for Good Governance, wish to address the recent posts circulating on social media aimed at defaming Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).
We find it deeply disturbing that some individuals have resorted to insulting and attacking her character, despite her well-documented record of service to our nation. Hon. Abike Dabiri has always stood as a mother to all Nigerians, irrespective of tribe, religion, or background. She has consistently defended the rights and welfare of Nigerians abroad, intervening in difficult cases and working tirelessly to ensure our people are treated with dignity across the world.
Her long years of service, from her time in the House of Representatives to her current role at NIDCOM, have been marked by dedication, integrity, and passion for the Nigerian people. It is therefore unjust and unfair for anyone to attempt to tarnish her image with baseless accusations.
We strongly condemn these attempts at defamation and call on all Nigerians to disregard such negative publications. Hon. Abike Dabiri deserves recognition for her contributions, not character assassination.
We also urge the security agencies to investigate and take appropriate action against those who deliberately spread falsehoods in order to incite division or discredit hardworking public servants.
Finally, we want to make it clear that this is not an ethnic issue. Those hiding under the guise of ethnicity to attack her are simply trying to create unnecessary tribal tension. Nigerians—whether Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, or any other group—must reject such divisive tactics.
Let us instead stand united and continue to support leaders who work tirelessly for the progress of our nation.
Thank you.
Signed,
OLALEYE AKINKUNMI OJO
President
Nigerian Youth for Good Governance
