After Losing Politically, Segun Olaleye Suddenly Discovers ‘Drunk Lawmakers’ In Oyo Assembly

“They Resume By 3PM, Drink Alcohol And Carry Ladies” — Bitter APC Aspirant Segun Olaleye Exposes Himself While Attacking Oyo Lawmakers

Depression, Politics and Public Outbursts: Is Segun Olaleye “Radical Brother” Truly Frustrated?

Politics in Nigeria has once again sparked heated reactions online following controversial remarks allegedly made by former Oyo State House of Assembly aspirant, Segun Olaleye, popularly known as “Radical Brother,” after the recent APC primary election in Oyo State.

Several social media posts and videos circulating online alleged that Olaleye accused current members of the Oyo State House of Assembly of irresponsibility, claiming lawmakers “resume work by 3 p.m., drink alcohol and carry ladies on their laps.” The comments immediately triggered outrage and mixed reactions across political circles in Ibadan and beyond.

The controversy erupted shortly after the APC primary process in Oyo State, where reports claimed the outspoken politician was dissatisfied with the outcome of the exercise. Viral posts on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and other social media platforms suggested that Olaleye had been openly expressing anger against some APC stakeholders and party decisions after losing out politically.

While supporters of the politician insist his comments were taken out of context, critics believe the outburst reflects frustration and disappointment after failing to secure political victory. Political observers in Oyo State say emotional reactions after primaries are not uncommon, especially in highly competitive environments where ambitions, expectations, and loyalties often collide.

However, many political stakeholders have strongly condemned the remarks allegedly credited to the former aspirant. Some insist the comments unfairly generalized members of the Assembly and disrespected the institution of governance in the state.

One angry reaction circulating online dismissed the allegations entirely, stating that Olaleye was merely describing his own conduct during his time in office.

“He is crazy; he is actually referring to what he used to do when he was in that seat. The present person holding that seat is far better than him,” the critic fired back.

The sharp response highlights how divided public opinion has become over the issue. While some sympathize with the emotional strain politicians face after electoral defeats, others believe public figures must exercise restraint regardless of political disappointment.

Mental health advocates have also used the incident to reopen conversations around depression, emotional pressure, and psychological stress in Nigerian politics. Although there is no verified evidence that Segun Olaleye is battling depression, many observers note that the intense pressure associated with political ambition can take a significant emotional toll on individuals.

Across Nigeria, politicians often invest years, personal resources, relationships, and influence into elections, only to face crushing disappointment when outcomes do not favor them. Analysts say such moments can lead to emotional instability, public outbursts, anger, bitterness, and in some cases withdrawal from public life.

Still, critics argue that frustration should never justify reckless accusations or unverified attacks against public institutions. They maintain that elected lawmakers deserve criticism only when backed by evidence rather than emotionally charged statements.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Segun Olaleye, popularly known as Radical Brother, has generated headlines in Oyo politics. The APC chieftain has long been known for his outspoken style and grassroots political engagement in Ibadan North politics. In 2025, he publicly denied reports falsely claiming he had emerged as a candidate during a previous APC bye-election controversy, insisting he remained loyal to party directives despite tensions within the process.

For now, neither the Oyo State House of Assembly nor Segun Olaleye has released any official detailed statement addressing the latest controversy in full. Nevertheless, the debate continues to dominate political discussions across Oyo State, especially on social media platforms where supporters and critics continue exchanging accusations.

Whether the comments were made out of anger, frustration, disappointment, or political calculation, the situation once again reveals the emotional intensity of Nigerian politics — a space where ambition, loyalty, pride, and public perception constantly collide.

One thing remains certain: in the world of politics, moments of defeat often expose emotions that victory usually hides.
