IB CONNECT has officially dismissed the widespread rumours circulating across social media platforms claiming that a 9PM curfew has been imposed in Ibadan or any part of Oyo State.
According to the media platform, the reports currently making rounds on Facebook, TikTok, WhatsApp, and X (formerly Twitter) are entirely unverified and should not be treated as factual information.
In a public notice released on Friday, IB CONNECT clarified that there is presently NO 9PM CURFEW anywhere in Ibadan or Oyo State, urging residents to remain calm and avoid panic-driven reactions fueled by misinformation online.
The platform noted that similar false security alerts and curfew rumours have surfaced repeatedly in the past, many of which were later debunked by relevant authorities and security agencies.
“Residents are advised to disregard misleading messages being circulated online. Spreading unverified information only creates unnecessary fear and tension among the public,” the statement read.
IB CONNECT further encouraged citizens to rely strictly on updates from verified and credible sources, especially during periods of heightened public concern.
The organization emphasized the importance of responsible social media usage, warning that fake news and panic messaging can negatively affect public peace, businesses, movement, and community trust.
As part of its public awareness campaign, IB CONNECT urged residents to adopt a culture of verification before sharing information online.
The statement concluded with a strong reminder:
“Stay safe, stay informed, and verify before sharing.”
