As security concerns continue to dominate conversations across parts of the South-West region, frontline House of Representatives aspirant for Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency, Oluwatobi John Ogunbayo, popularly known as OJO, has called on residents to remain vigilant, security-conscious, and committed to protecting their communities through collective responsibility and timely information sharing.
In a strongly worded public safety advisory released to residents across the South-West geopolitical zone, the respected APC chieftain and emerging grassroots political figure emphasized the urgent need for caution, community cooperation, and proactive security awareness amid growing concerns over criminal activities and insecurity in some parts of the region.
According to Hon. Oluwatobi John Ogunbayo (OJO), the safety of lives and properties must remain a top priority for every citizen, community leader, youth group, market association, religious institution, and security stakeholder.
The Ibadan-born politician urged residents to avoid unnecessary travelling, especially during late hours, stressing that citizens must adopt preventive security measures capable of reducing exposure to avoidable risks.
He further advised business owners, traders, artisans, transport operators, students, and residents to avoid staying outdoors deep into the night and to ensure that shops and business premises are closed at reasonable hours while there are still movements of people within the environment.
Speaking on the importance of personal security consciousness, OJO cautioned residents against walking alone through isolated routes, poorly lit areas, or dangerous environments where criminal elements may take advantage of vulnerability.
He encouraged members of the public to remain observant at all times and immediately report suspicious movements, unusual gatherings, or strange activities to the appropriate security agencies, local vigilante groups, community development associations, or law enforcement authorities.
The APC 2027 House of Representatives hopeful also expressed concern over the increasing spread of fake news, misinformation, and panic-driven rumours on social media, warning that unverified security reports have the potential to create unnecessary fear, confusion, and tension within communities.
According to him, security information must always be properly verified before dissemination, adding that irresponsible circulation of false reports could undermine ongoing security operations and destabilize public confidence.
“Security is everybody’s business. Government alone cannot do it without the support, vigilance, and cooperation of the people. Communities must become more united, observant, and responsive in sharing credible information with security agencies,” he stated.
Hon. Oluwatobi John Ogunbayo (OJO) further reaffirmed his commitment to people-oriented leadership, community development, youth engagement, grassroots empowerment, and policies that prioritize public safety and social stability across Ibadan North-West and Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency.
Political observers within the constituency have continued to describe OJO as one of the emerging grassroots voices within the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly because of his growing connection with the people, community-based engagement style, and increasing visibility on issues affecting ordinary residents.
Supporters also believe his consistent advocacy for security awareness, youth inclusion, economic opportunities, and responsible governance reflects the kind of representation many residents have been demanding at the federal level.
As conversations around the 2027 elections gradually gather momentum across Oyo State, Hon. Oluwatobi John Ogunbayo’s latest message is already attracting reactions among constituents and political stakeholders who see the advisory as both timely and reflective of leadership responsiveness during periods of public concern.
He concluded by praying for lasting peace, unity, progress, and security across the South-West region and Nigeria as a whole, while encouraging citizens not to lose hope in the collective efforts toward building safer communities.
Signed:
Hon. Oluwatobi John Ogunbayo (OJO)
Aspirant, Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency
