Hon. Lanre Jinadu, a dedicated supporter of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a proud Renewed Hope Ambassador, and a respected political stakeholder for Ibadan North Local Government, has commended the Federal Government for its proactive and strategic interventions that successfully prevented what could have become a major fertilizer crisis in Nigeria.
In a goodwill message to Nigerians, farmers, agricultural stakeholders, and supporters of the Renewed Hope Agenda, Hon. Jinadu praised the visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for taking decisive steps to safeguard the nation's food production system amid growing global economic uncertainties and disruptions in international supply chains.
According to Hon. Jinadu, the agricultural sector remains a critical pillar of national development, food security, job creation, and economic prosperity. He noted that the administration's timely intervention through the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative (PFI), now restructured under the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), demonstrates the President's unwavering commitment to ensuring sustainable agricultural growth and protecting Nigerian farmers from avoidable hardships.
"At a time when many nations are grappling with food insecurity and rising agricultural input costs, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has once again demonstrated purposeful leadership by ensuring that Nigeria remained insulated from a potential fertilizer shortage. This achievement reflects the practical implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda and its commitment to improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians," Hon. Jinadu stated.
He highlighted several milestones recorded under the initiative, including:
Over 449,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer inputs secured for blending plants nationwide.
Approximately 9 million bags of fertilizer inputs made available.
Ten vessels either discharged or currently in transit to support production.
A production target of 1.1 million metric tonnes in 2026.
An estimated 22 million bags of fertilizer expected for farmers this year.
Savings of ₦61.58 billion through strategic contracting arrangements.
Protection and sustenance of over 90 fertilizer blending plants across Nigeria, maintaining the country's position as the largest fertilizer blending hub in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Hon. Jinadu further applauded the implementation of the Renewed Hope Farm Input Support Programme (RHFISP) under the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), which is facilitating the distribution of locally produced fertilizers directly to farmers across the country.
He noted that:
515,720 bags of fertilizer are currently being distributed.
128,930 smallholder farmers are expected to benefit.
The programme covers 25 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Each participating state is allocated 20,160 bags for distribution.
Priority is being given to farmers cultivating rice, maize, cassava, and soybean.
The Ibadan North political leader emphasized that these interventions are not merely statistics but tangible actions that will boost agricultural productivity, reduce pressure on food prices, strengthen rural economies, and improve national food security.
"Food security begins with access to quality farm inputs. By securing fertilizer supplies, supporting local production, and ensuring distribution to farmers, the Tinubu administration is addressing the entire agricultural value chain. This is governance in action. This is Renewed Hope at work," he added.
Hon. Lanre Jinadu urged Nigerians to continue supporting President Tinubu's reform agenda, stressing that meaningful transformation requires patience, collective responsibility, and sustained commitment from all stakeholders.
He reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the ideals of progressive governance championed by President Tinubu and pledged to continue mobilizing grassroots support for policies that promote economic growth, agricultural development, youth empowerment, and national prosperity.
"As loyal progressives and believers in the Renewed Hope vision, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that guarantee food sufficiency, economic stability, and a brighter future for all Nigerians. The results we are witnessing today are proof that the promises of Renewed Hope are steadily becoming realities."
