Ibadan Airport Upgrade Committee Chairman, Arc. Ife Akande, Inspects Communities Affected by Airport Operations
The Chairman of the Ibadan Airport Upgrade Committee, Arc. Ife Akande, has inspected houses and infrastructure in communities surrounding the airport following an invitation from the Oluwatimileyin Landlords and Landladies Association.
The inspection was carried out after residents raised concerns about the impact of ongoing activities at the airport on their community.
According to the landlords and landladies, the only drainage channel coming out of the airport was diverted into their community,they explained that the diversion has, over the years, caused serious damage to the road, leaving it badly deteriorated and virtually impassable for motorists and residents.
The residents also disclosed that rocks blasted during construction activities at the airport had landed on some houses, causing damage and affecting some property owners in the community.
They therefore appealed to the Chairman of the Upgrade Committee to intervene and find a lasting solution to the drainage problem,they also requested assistance with the rehabilitation of the damaged roads and affected houses.
Responding to their concerns, Arc. Ife Akande assured the residents that he would formally present their complaints and requests,he further promised to communicate the outcome of the committee’s deliberations to the community.
The leadership and members of the Oluwatimileyin Landlords and Landladies Association expressed their appreciation to Arc. Ife Akande for personally visiting the community, inspecting the affected areas and listening to their concerns.
They described the visit as a positive step towards addressing the challenges confronting residents living around the airport.
