I Was Offered ₦5 Billion to Impeach Governor Fubara – Rivers Chief of Staff

In a startling revelation, Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has alleged that he was offered a substantial bribe to facilitate the impeachment of the governor. Speaking at a rally in Ahoada East, Ehie disclosed that he was approached with a significant sum to initiate the impeachment process but chose to reject the offer. He stated, "They invited me, your son, to impeach the governor and I told them clearly, I was not interested. They gave me all the money that was hidden before, which I rejected. And because I refused, they conspired and declared me wanted." 

Ehie's refusal to partake in the alleged bribery led to significant personal repercussions. In 2023, he was declared wanted by the police in connection with the invasion of the State House of Assembly. This period was marked by heightened political tension in Rivers State, culminating in an explosion at the assembly building amidst reports of lawmakers attempting to impeach Governor Fubara. The incident led to criminal complaints against Ehie, with allegations implicating individuals close to the governor in the arson of the assembly chambers.
