In a remarkable rescue operation, the Oyo State Fire Service successfully saved a 68-year-old man who accidentally fell into a deep well while trying to recover his mobile phone. The incident occurred on Sunday morning at Mobolorunduro Mosque, located in the Molefalafia area of Oke-Ado, within the Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of Oyo State.
According to eyewitnesses, the man was attempting to retrieve his phone, which had accidentally dropped into the well, when he slipped and fell in. A resident, Mr. Ajadi Olaleye, reported that the Oyo State Fire Service responded promptly to the distress call. The firefighters were able to rescue the man alive and subsequently handed him over to his family for medical attention.
The Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Service Reform, Mr. Adebayo Akinwande, confirmed the incident in a statement, commending the swift response of the fire service personnel. He emphasized the importance of public awareness regarding safety measures around wells and other potential hazards.
