Fresh FM Ibadan Issues Official Statement After Devastating Fire at Music House

The management of Fresh FM Nigeria has issued an official statement confirming the outbreak of a devastating fire that ravaged its head office, known as Music House, located at Challenge, Ibadan.
According to the statement signed by Samson Akindele, Group Head of Corporate Affairs for Fresh FM Nigeria and Yinka Ayefele Limited, the inferno erupted on the evening of Friday, August 15, 2025, causing severe damage to key facilities within the building.

The blaze gutted the studios of Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM, as well as adjoining sections including the newsroom, transmitter/server room, and vital broadcasting equipment, disrupting operations and transmissions.

Despite frantic efforts by staff members to contain the flames with in-house fire extinguishers, the fire’s intensity proved overwhelming until the Oyo State Fire Service arrived to put the situation under control.

> “We cannot immediately quantify the extent of the damage caused by the devastating inferno, the cause of which is yet to be ascertained. However, we heartily appreciate the good-spirited Nigerians—residents, passersby, and officials of the Oyo Fire Service—who joined hands with us to fight the fire,” the statement read.

The Fresh FM management emphasized that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the blaze. Meanwhile, the organization expressed deep gratitude to its supporters, reassuring listeners that the station remains committed to bouncing back stronger.

This tragedy marks a huge blow not only to the Fresh FM brand—founded by gospel music icon Yinka Ayefele in 2015—but also to Nigeria’s broadcasting landscape, where the station has established itself as one of the most influential voices in radio across the Southwest.
