The lawmaker representing Ibadan South-East/North-East Federal Constituency, Hon. Abass Adigun, popularly known as Agboworin, has made history as the first member of the House of Representatives in Oyo State to donate operational equipment to security agencies within his constituency.
The presentation ceremony, which held on Thursday at the Civic Centre, Ibadan, brought together representatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Amotekun Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other security outfits, who all benefited from the lawmaker’s gesture.
The initiative was aimed at strengthening security operations and enhancing inter-agency collaboration.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Agboworin appreciated the dedication of security operatives in maintaining peace and order, describing them as the unsung heroes of the society.
“I want to sincerely appreciate all our security agencies for their immense contribution towards the safety of lives and property in my constituency and Oyo State at large. The police, Amotekun, FRSC, and other outfits are doing a great job. Imagine if the police were to go on strike for just one day—there would be chaos. Their commitment to duty keeps our society stable and peaceful,” he said.
The lawmaker, who served in the United States Navy for over 12 years, drew from his personal experience in security and defence to emphasized the importance of supporting security institutions with the right logistics and equipment.
“Having served in the American Navy for more than a decade, I understand the pressure, sacrifice, and discipline it takes to keep communities safe. That experience has shaped my passion for supporting our men and women in uniform here in Nigeria,” he added.
