HON. OLUWATOBI JOHN OGUNBAYO TAKES GRASSROOTS-DRIVEN STEP AGAINST VOTER APATHY, LEADS INEC PRE-REGISTRATION OUTREACH IN MOLETE

In a political climate increasingly challenged by voter apathy and declining civic engagement, Honourable Oluwatobi John Ogunbayo has once again distinguished himself as a grassroots-focused leader committed to reversing the trend through practical, people-centered action.

One of the growing concerns in today’s democratic process is the alarming rate at which citizens disengage from electoral participation. While new voters emerge in their thousands with every political cycle, enthusiasm for participation continues to drop. What should ordinarily be a steady growth in voter registration has, in many communities, become a declining curve—where interest fails to match population growth, and the power of civic responsibility is gradually underutilized.

Against this backdrop, Hon. Ogunbayo has consistently emphasized a simple but powerful message: the voter’s card is not just an identity document, but the citizen’s true instrument of power in shaping leadership and determining the future.

In response to this belief, he has initiated a grassroots support scheme aimed at easing the burden of voter registration for residents within his constituency. The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between eligible voters and the INEC registration process, removing barriers that often discourage participation such as distance, time constraints, and lack of access to digital registration support.

As early as 10:00 a.m., Hon. Ogunbayo’s team was on ground at Molete, directly in front of Adigun House—popularly known as “Ile Adigun”—to facilitate the INEC pre-registration process for residents. The objective was straightforward but impactful: bring the registration process closer to the people, reduce stress, and ensure that more citizens are captured ahead of the electoral cycle.

The exercise witnessed steady participation as residents turned out to take advantage of the opportunity, with the team providing guidance and technical support to ensure smooth completion of the process. The outreach is scheduled to continue tomorrow at the same venue, reinforcing the commitment to sustained engagement rather than one-off political gestures.

What stood out most during the exercise was Hon. Ogunbayo’s personal presence. Far from delegating entirely, he was physically on ground to supervise operations, interact with constituents, and personally emphasize the importance of civic participation. His engagement was not ceremonial, but intentional—speaking directly with residents about why voter registration remains the foundation of accountable governance and effective representation.

For many observers, this initiative reflects a growing political standard being set by Hon. Ogunbayo—one that prioritizes direct impact over rhetoric, and community presence over distant politicking. At a time when voter disengagement threatens to weaken democratic participation, his proactive approach sends a clear message: leadership must not only speak to the people, it must meet them where they are.

As the outreach continues, it is expected to further strengthen civic awareness within the constituency while empowering more residents to take ownership of their democratic right.
