As we mark the sixth anniversary of the passing of the late former Executive Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, I join millions of sons and daughters of Oyo State, friends, political associates, and admirers across Nigeria in honouring the memory of a distinguished statesman whose leadership left an enduring imprint on our dear state.
Six years may have passed since his departure, but the legacy of Senator Ajimobi continues to resonate in the hearts of the people. His commitment to purposeful governance, infrastructural renewal, public sector reforms, security, and disciplined leadership remains a reference point in the political history of Oyo State.
Throughout his years in public service, Senator Ajimobi demonstrated courage, conviction, and an unwavering determination to pursue policies he believed would transform society. His administration championed urban renewal, strengthened institutions, improved the state's infrastructure, and inspired a new generation of leaders to embrace public service with vision, responsibility, and accountability.
As an aspirant for the House of Representatives representing the good people of Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency, I draw inspiration from leaders who understood that true leadership is about sacrifice, service, and creating lasting value for the people. Senator Ajimobi's life reminds us that public office should be a platform for development, unity, and positive change.
His political journey continues to inspire countless young leaders who believe that integrity, competence, strategic thinking, and people-centred representation remain the pillars of sustainable democratic governance. His legacy challenges all of us seeking elective office to place the interests of the people above personal ambition and to pursue policies that uplift communities, empower the youth, support women, create opportunities for businesses, and improve the quality of life for every citizen.
Today, I respectfully celebrate a man whose contributions to Oyo State will remain part of our collective history. While opinions about every administration may differ, there is no doubt that Senator Abiola Ajimobi devoted a significant part of his life to the service of our people and left behind lessons that continue to shape political discourse in our state.
On this solemn occasion, I extend my heartfelt prayers to his beloved family, political associates, and everyone who continues to cherish his memory. May Almighty God continue to grant them strength and comfort, and may He grant the departed leader eternal rest.
As we remember Senator Abiola Ajimobi today, let us also renew our collective commitment to building an Ibadan and an Oyo State founded on visionary leadership, democratic values, peace, inclusive development, and genuine service to humanity.
His memory lives on through the lives he touched, the institutions he strengthened, and the legacy he left behind.
May his soul continue to rest in perfect peace.
