The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, on Friday hosted the National Secretary of the APC, Ajibola Basiru, during a high-level gathering of party leaders and stakeholders in Ekiti State aimed at strengthening support for the re-election bid of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
The strategic meeting brought together influential figures within the ruling party from across the South-West region, underscoring the APC’s commitment to consolidating its political strength ahead of future electoral contests. The gathering served as an avenue for party stakeholders to assess ongoing governance efforts in Ekiti State and mobilize grassroots support for Governor Oyebanji’s second-term ambition.
Governor Oyebanji, who assumed office in October 2022, has continued to enjoy strong backing from key leaders within the APC owing to his administration’s focus on infrastructure development, economic growth, education, healthcare, agriculture, and social welfare programmes. Party leaders at the meeting reportedly commended the governor’s performance, describing his administration as one that has delivered visible dividends of democracy to the people of Ekiti State.
Sharafadeen Alli, a prominent APC leader in Oyo State and former Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among party members. He noted that the APC remains stronger when its leaders and stakeholders work together toward common objectives, particularly in advancing good governance and sustaining the party’s electoral successes across the South-West.
The visit of National Secretary Ajibola Basiru further highlighted the significance the party leadership attaches to Ekiti State and the re-election campaign of Governor Oyebanji. Basiru, a former Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, has been actively involved in strengthening the party’s internal structures and fostering cohesion among members nationwide.
Political observers view the gathering as part of broader efforts by the APC to reinforce its dominance in the South-West geopolitical zone. The region has traditionally served as one of the party’s strongest support bases, producing influential political figures and contributing significantly to the APC’s electoral victories at both state and national levels.
Stakeholders present at the meeting reiterated their commitment to ensuring the party remains united and focused on delivering quality leadership to the people. They also pledged to intensify grassroots mobilization, voter engagement, and strategic consultations ahead of future elections.
The event concluded with a renewed call for party faithful across Ekiti State and the wider South-West to continue supporting the APC-led administration and its developmental agenda. Leaders expressed confidence that Governor Oyebanji’s achievements in office would further strengthen public trust and position him favorably for another term.
The gathering reflects the APC’s ongoing efforts to maintain political stability, deepen party unity, and sustain governance initiatives that party leaders believe are crucial to the continued development of Ekiti State and the South-West region as a whole.
