Hon. Oluwatobi John Ogunbayo (OJO), All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has warmly welcomed the safe release of the pupils and teachers of the Oyo State Government-owned primary school in Orire Local Government Area, describing the development as a moment of relief, hope and renewed faith for the entire nation.
The victims, who spent more than 50 days in captivity following their abduction, have finally reunited with their families in what has been widely celebrated as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against insecurity.
Reacting to the development, Hon. Ogunbayo expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God for preserving the lives of the pupils and their teachers throughout the traumatic experience and granting them a safe return.
According to him, the successful rescue demonstrates that persistent collaboration between government institutions, security agencies and citizens can produce positive results in the battle against criminality.
Hon. Ogunbayo particularly commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his unwavering commitment to strengthening Nigeria's security architecture through sustained reforms, improved intelligence gathering and enhanced support for the nation's security institutions.
He also praised the professionalism, resilience and patriotism of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), local intelligence operatives and every other security agency involved in the operation that secured the victims' freedom.
The APC House of Representatives hopeful equally acknowledged the efforts of the Oyo State Government, traditional rulers, community leaders, volunteers and all stakeholders whose cooperation contributed to the successful outcome.
> "The safe return of these innocent schoolchildren and their dedicated teachers is a victory for humanity, justice and the collective resolve of Nigerians against criminality. It is a moment of immense joy for their families, friends and every Nigerian who stood in prayer throughout this difficult period.
> "I sincerely commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his steadfast leadership and commitment to improving national security. I also salute our courageous security personnel whose sacrifices, professionalism and determination made this successful rescue possible. Their service to our nation deserves our respect and continued support."
Hon. Ogunbayo stressed that while the successful rescue deserves celebration, it should also serve as renewed motivation to intensify efforts against kidnapping, banditry and all forms of violent crime threatening communities across Nigeria.
He emphasized that every Nigerian child deserves access to education in a safe and secure environment, while teachers should be able to discharge their responsibilities without fear of attacks or abduction.
As an aspirant seeking to represent the good people of Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Ogunbayo reaffirmed his commitment to supporting policies and legislative initiatives that strengthen national security, improve community policing, enhance intelligence sharing, protect educational institutions and promote sustainable peace across the country.
He further appealed to Nigerians to remain vigilant and continue partnering with security agencies by providing timely, credible and actionable intelligence capable of preventing criminal activities before they occur.
Hon. Ogunbayo noted that defeating insecurity requires collective responsibility, urging religious leaders, traditional institutions, youth groups, market associations and community development organisations to continue working together in support of peace, unity and national development.
He prayed that such painful experiences would never be repeated and expressed optimism that Nigeria would continue making steady progress toward becoming a safer and more prosperous nation under purposeful leadership.
