“STOP DREAMING, AJI ISN’T COMING BACK!” — BOYE NATION FIRES BACK OVER APC RETURN RUMOURS

“Aji is in APM to stay. Stop dreaming he will go back to Egypt.”

That was the blunt message from the leadership of the Boye Nation Movement as it moved to shut down speculation that its leader, Hon. Ajiboye Akande Sangogade, popularly known as Boye Nation, could be heading back to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The movement insisted that Sangogade’s decision to join the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) was not a temporary political stopover, describing him as a committed member of the party with no plan to return to the APC.

The statement, issued by the movement’s spokesperson, Ambassador Omiyale Ademola, came amid renewed political realignments in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to Omiyale, those waiting for Sangogade to make a U-turn should forget the idea.

«“Aji is in APM to stay and build governance in Oyo State. Stop dreaming he will go back to Egypt. He is in a better place and with the winning team in Oyo.”»

The comment is certain to generate reactions within Oyo State’s increasingly competitive political space, particularly among supporters of the APC and the APM.

‘The Meeting Was Social, Not Political’

The Boye Nation Movement also addressed speculation surrounding a recent meeting between Sangogade and Barr. Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The group dismissed suggestions that the encounter represented a political reconciliation or indication that Sangogade was preparing to return to the APC.

According to the movement, the meeting was purely social and reflected a longstanding personal relationship between the two men.

The group therefore urged political observers not to interpret every personal meeting between politicians and political actors as evidence of an impending defection.

From APC to APM

Sangogade’s movement from the APC to the APM has become one of the notable political realignments involving youth mobilisation in Oyo State.

Reports have indicated that Sangogade led members and supporters associated with his political structure into the APM, with the development taking place during a major mobilisation event in Ibadan.

The move has been linked to the wider political realignment surrounding Governor Seyi Makinde and the APM ahead of the 2027 elections.

The APM has increasingly positioned itself as a significant platform in Oyo politics, while opposition parties continue efforts to challenge the existing political structure in the state.

For Boye Nation, however, the argument appears to be less about where Sangogade came from and more about where he believes his political future lies.

‘We Are Building, Not Looking Back’

Omiyale said the movement’s attention is now firmly focused on building political structures and contributing to governance in Oyo State.

Rather than dwelling on rumours of a return to the APC, the group said it intends to concentrate on grassroots mobilisation and strengthening the APM ahead of the 2027 elections.

The message from Boye Nation is therefore unmistakable: the movement says Sangogade has moved on.

Whether the political prediction of an APM victory eventually materialises will be determined at the ballot box. But for now, Omiyale wants political opponents and observers to stop expecting a dramatic return to the APC.

Aji, according to Boye Nation, has chosen his political home — and he is not packing his bags.
