Violence in Kankara: Bandits Slaughter Farmers, Set Military Vehicle Ablaze

In a terrifying escalation of violence, bandits in Kankara, Katsina State, have unleashed a wave of brutal attacks on local communities, effectively crippling their ability to engage in farming activities. Reports indicate that around 50 farmers were slaughtered near Yar Goje town in a series of savage assaults. Armed with lethal weapons, the bandits struck the villages mercilessly on Sunday. The horror deepened when a military armored vehicle dispatched to provide assistance was ambushed and set ablaze, resulting in further casualties among the military personnel. In a harrowing account, Jamilu, a resident of the beleaguered area, recounted a recent incident where approximately 15 farmers and their vigilante protectors were ambushed and massacred while working in fields between Mabai and Katsalle. The death toll continues to rise as more bodies are discovered, and the injured are rushed to hospitals, struggling for their lives. "Our livelihood is under siege, and it feels like no one is taking this seriously," Jamilu lamented. "Katsina is the home state of Former President Buhari. With the relentless slaughter of farmers, how much more will food inflation skyrocket?" The relentless attacks not only endanger lives but also threaten to exacerbate food insecurity, pushing the region further into crisis.
