Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has stated that constructive criticism from opposition parties, individuals, and groups serves as a driving force for improved governance. He made this known at the 70th birthday celebration of the Aare Alasa Olubadan of Ibadan, Chief Ismail Akinade-Fijabi, held at a prominent event centre in Ibadan.
Governor Makinde, one of the distinguished guests at the event, praised the celebrant’s contributions to politics and business in the state. He noted that prior to his administration, Oyo politics was marked by intense rivalry, but the current climate is more peaceful and unified across party lines.
While congratulating Chief Akinade-Fijabi, the governor commended his unwavering support for the administration and lauded his leadership qualities. He described the celebrant as a stabilizing force and unifier within the political landscape of the state.
Governor Makinde emphasized that voices of dissent play a crucial role in refining governance and expressed his appreciation for all who continue to engage constructively in the state's development.
