As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has called for genuine reconciliation and renewed unity among leaders, stakeholders, support groups and members of the party across the state.
In a strongly worded appeal, Senator Alli urged party faithful to put aside personal grievances and political differences, stressing that the APC can only achieve its objective of reclaiming Oyo State through collective purpose, mutual trust and unwavering commitment to progressive ideals. According to him, unity remains the strongest foundation for electoral victory and effective governance.
The APC governorship candidate observed that the outcome of the 2023 general elections offered valuable lessons on the dangers of internal divisions. He noted that whenever personal ambitions overshadow the collective interests of the party, the APC becomes politically weakened, reducing its chances of electoral success. He therefore challenged every stakeholder to reflect on those experiences and work deliberately to ensure that similar mistakes are not repeated as preparations intensify for future elections.
Senator Alli appealed to party elders, former aspirants, political associates, youth and women leaders, support groups and grassroots members to embrace reconciliation in the overall interest of the party. He emphasized that no individual is greater than the APC and insisted that the development of Oyo State must always take precedence over personal interests or political rivalries.
He also reaffirmed his readiness to work closely with every stakeholder, regardless of previous political differences, in building a stronger, more united and more competitive APC capable of offering credible leadership to the people of Oyo State.
Demonstrating what many political observers have described as humility and statesmanship, Senator Alli extended an apology to anyone he may have offended, whether knowingly or unknowingly. He appealed for forgiveness and urged party members to embrace reconciliation built on mutual respect, sincerity, trust and brotherhood.
According to him, forgiveness remains one of the essential ingredients for lasting political stability and sustainable electoral success. He maintained that a united APC possesses the experience, competence and vision required to provide purposeful leadership, accelerate development and improve the welfare of residents across Oyo State.
The senator further extended what he described as a hand of fellowship to every party stakeholder, encouraging members to work together, campaign together and ultimately celebrate victory together. He urged members to replace suspicion with confidence, rivalry with cooperation and bitterness with a renewed spirit of shared responsibility.
He stressed that only genuine collaboration and internal cohesion would enable the APC to regain the confidence of the electorate and position the party strongly for victory in the forthcoming governorship election. His appeal comes at a time when political parties across Nigeria are intensifying consultations, reconciliation efforts and grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
Senator Alli concluded by reminding party members that many residents of Oyo State continue to look up to the APC as a credible alternative for governance. He called on leaders and members alike to demonstrate the enduring principles of progressive politics through unity, discipline, sacrifice and selfless service.
He also sought the prayers, support and partnership of all party faithful as the APC prepares for future electoral contests, expressing confidence that a united party would not only reclaim Oyo State but also work seamlessly with the APC-led Federal Government to attract greater development, economic opportunities, infrastructure and improved welfare for the people.
Reaffirming his conviction that reconciliation is indispensable to political success, Senator Alli declared: "Our strength is unity. Our victory is unity. Our future is unity."
