During a media briefing, Wike stated, "God has given me good health, which is why I have the energy to do what I am doing." This declaration underscores his commitment to his ministerial responsibilities and refutes allegations of health challenges.
Supporting this, Wike's media aide, Lere Olayinka, dismissed the rumors as baseless. He highlighted the implausibility of the reports by pointing out that Wike was actively visiting communities in Abuja on the same day he was purportedly receiving treatment abroad. Olayinka remarked, "They are saying that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, was rushed to London for medical attention on Thursday night... Sebi Wike was flown to London on Thursday night for urgent medical treatment, and he used Witchcraft to come back on Friday to visit Dape Community in Life Camp area, Gishiri, and Pigba Sama communities in Abuja on Friday."
These recent speculations recall an incident from December 2018, when Wike revealed he was poisoned at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat. He recounted that the poisoning led to severe health complications, affecting his liver and kidneys, and necessitated urgent medical attention in Beirut, Lebanon. Wike stated, "In December 2018... I never came down from my room. It was bad... I was flown to a hospital in Beirut at 12 midnight where doctors after running a series of tests told me that my liver and kidney were all gone." Fortunately, with medical intervention, his organs began functioning again, allowing him to resume his duties.
