Spotify CEO and founder Daniel Ek has assured the global music community that artificial intelligence (AI) will serve as a catalyst for greater creativity rather than a threat to musicians’ livelihoods. Speaking at the company’s Open House event at its Stockholm headquarters, Ek addressed mounting concerns that AI-generated music could marginalize human artists and disrupt traditional music production.
"AI will not replace artists. It will inspire more people to express themselves through music," Ek stated, emphasizing that emerging AI tools are designed to empower, not eliminate, human creativity. His comments come amid a growing debate over the role of AI in the music industry, especially with the rise of deepfake vocals and fully synthetic tracks being released under fictitious artist names.
