Ex-PDP Chairman’s Son, Associate Sentenced to 14 Years for N2.2bn Oil Subsidy Fraud

The Lagos Special Offences Court has sentenced Mamman Nasir Ali, son of former PDP Chairman Ahmadu Ali, and Christian Taylor to 14 years imprisonment each for their roles in a N2.2 billion oil subsidy fraud. Justice Mojisola Dada found them guilty of conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretenses, forgery, and using false documents.

The charges stemmed from fraudulent claims made through Nasaman Oil Services Ltd, asserting the importation of millions of liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) that never occurred. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) prosecuted the case, highlighting the defendants' submission of falsified documents to secure subsidy payments under the Petroleum Support Fund.

The EFCC emphasized that this conviction underscores its commitment to combating economic crimes and ensuring justice.
