Olubadan Charges New Jagun Olubadan, Chief Akinola Alabi, to Champion Development in Ibadanland

In a ceremony held at the Olubadan Palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan, His Imperial Majesty Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, installed Chief Akinola Alabi as the Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland. The Olubadan urged Chief Alabi to leverage his new traditional title and political position to attract developmental projects to Ibadanland.

Chief Alabi, who currently represents the Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC), was decorated with the traditional Akoko leaves by the Oluwo of Ibadanland, Chief Abdulwahab Popoola, during the ceremony.

Oba Olakulehin emphasized the importance of using the chieftaincy title as a platform for service to the community. He stated, "You have been installed as the Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland today. There are hundreds of Mogajis (family heads) in Ibadanland before your choice. Your selection is a testament to your contributions, and it is expected that you will continue to work diligently for the progress of Ibadanland."

The Olubadan's call aligns with his consistent message to newly elevated chiefs, urging them to dedicate their lives to the service of humanity and to use their positions to advance Ibadanland, Oyo State, and Nigeria as a whole.

The installation ceremony was attended by members of the Olubadan-in-Council, traditional chiefs, political office holders, and other dignitaries, reflecting the significance of the event in the cultural and political landscape of Ibadanland.

Chief Alabi expressed gratitude for the honor and pledged to continue his efforts in bringing development to Ibadanland, both through his legislative role and his new traditional title.

The Olubadan's admonition serves as a reminder of the responsibilities that come with traditional titles and the expectation that titleholders will contribute meaningfully to the development and progress of their communities.
