The governor made this assertion on Monday while receiving members of the Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU), who paid him a solidarity visit at his office in Ibadan.
Governor Makinde who emphasized that his political future remains a personal decision, pledged to build an institution that will guarantee good governance beyond the tenor of his administration.
The State Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde received the Members of the Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU), led by its National president Ibrahim Alarape at the frontage of the Governor's office Agodi Ibadan.
Addressing the Students, governor Makinde, who gave assurance that he would continue to look after the students' well-being as an administration, said his main priority remains development of Oyo state in the next years, adding that he won't be distracted by calls from various quarters that he should run for presidency come 2207 Election.
Highlighting the paradox of Nigeria’s immense natural wealth and widespread poverty, Govenor Makinde asserted that natural resources alone cannot deliver prosperity, adding that people must be mobilized, invest in skills and knowledge, and prioritize intensive production.
Governor Makinde also urged the students to cooperate with the state government and encouraged them to give any suggestions that could help improve existing initiatives, emphasizing the importance of closing remaining gaps.
In their separate Messages, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Student Affairs, Victor Olojede, and the National President of the Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU), Ibrahim Alarape, commended the governor for his student-friendly policies.
They praised Governor Makinde’s unwavering support for the student community and pledged to reciprocate his fatherly care with exceptional academic performance.
The event was attended by the deputy governor and other top government functionaries.
