IB'North Bye-election: Olufade Congratulates Hon. Oyekunle Don As He Receives Certificate Of Return, Thanks Oyo PDP, Gov. Makinde, Otunba Seye Famojuro, And The Electorate

 


Ibadan North Local Government Chairman, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has congratulated Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle Don on his resounding victory in the August 16, 2025 by-election, where he secured 18,404 votes against the APC candidate’s 8,312. Olufade described Don as a credible and people-driven leader, noting that his triumph reflects the trust and confidence of the electorate.


In his message, Olufade expressed gratitude to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde for his purposeful leadership, while also appreciating Deputy Governor Barr. Bayo Lawal, PDP stalwart Otunba Seye Famojuro, party leaders, local government chairmen, and other stakeholders whose efforts ensured victory. He further commended religious leaders, traditional rulers, artisans, students, and residents of Ibadan North for speaking “loudly with their votes,” reclaiming the constituency for the PDP for the first time since 2011. Olufade also acknowledged the campaign committee led by Hon. Demola Omotoso and celebrated Don’s formal receipt of his Certificate of Return in Abuja. He charged the new lawmaker to remain humble, focused, and committed to the people’s mandate, assuring him of the continued support of Ibadan North residents and leaders as he begins his tenure at the National Assembly.

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle Don on his landslide victory in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election held on Saturday, August 16, 2025.





Hon. Don, who secured an emphatic 18,404 votes to defeat his closest rival from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Adewale Olatunji Murphy, who polled 8,312 votes, was described by Hon. Olufade as “a credible, competent, and people-driven leader whose victory is a reflection of the people’s trust and confidence.”





In a statement made available through his head of media, Aderibigbe Yisahu, the Ibadan North Council boss expressed deep appreciation to the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, whom he described as the uncommon transformer, the people’s Governor, and his mentor, for providing purposeful leadership and creating the enabling environment that guaranteed victory for the PDP.





Hon. Olufade also thanked the Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal, for his steadfastness, and paid glowing tribute to Otunba Seye Famojuro, whom he hailed as his leader and backbone.





The council chairman further appreciated the Federal House of Representatives Members from Oyo State, the State Assembly Honourables, Local Government Chairmen, commissioners, political appointees, and party executives at both state and local levels for their unflinching support.

He further noted that in fulfillment of the people’s mandate, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle Don today received his Certificate of Return in Abuja, formally sealing his well-deserved victory and paving the way for his assumption of office at the National Assembly.




He concluded by charging Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle Don to remain focused, humble, and people-driven in his new role at the National Assembly, assuring him of the continued support of the Ibadan North people and leadership structure.
