Fellow Oyo State Youths,
We, the Oyo State Chapter of the Nigerian Youth Congress, are compelled to issue a clarificatory statement and an earnest appeal to all youths in Oyo State, particularly in light of the prevailing socio-economic and political climate in our beloved state.
As the apex youth organisation in Oyo State, we recognise the inherent potential and energy of our youthful population, and we are committed to promoting an enabling environment that fosters responsible citizenship, patriotism, and collective progress.
*A CALL TO ACTION: EMBRACING OUR COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY*
We note with concern the myriad challenges confronting our state, including but not limited to, unemployment, insecurity, inadequate infrastructure, and the palpable sense of disillusionment among our youth. We recognise that these challenges are not insurmountable, and we believe that our collective efforts can surmount them.
We, therefore, call on all Oyo State youths to eschew violence, hate speech, and divisive politics, and instead, let us unite in our diversity and work towards a common goal of building a better future for ourselves, our communities, and our state.
*KEY AREAS OF FOCUS*
To achieve this, we propose the following key areas of focus:
1. YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP: We advocate for increased access to entrepreneurial training, mentorship, and funding opportunities to enable our youths to become job creators, rather than job seekers.
2. EDUCATION AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT: We call for improved access to quality education and skills development programs that equip our youths with the requisite skills to compete in the global economy.
3. GOOD GOVERNANCE AND ACCOUNTABILITY: We demand transparency, accountability, and good governance from our leaders, and we commit to holding them accountable for their actions.
4. SECURITY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: We urge our youths to work collaboratively with security agencies and community leaders to promote peace, security, and stability in our state.
*A PLEA FOR PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE*
In light of the ongoing electoral processes in our state, we appeal to all Oyo State youths to conduct themselves in a peaceful, law-abiding, and sporting manner. Let us shun all forms of electoral malpractices, and instead, let us promote free, fair, and credible elections that reflect the will of our people.
