ROYAL GLORY IN ISEYIN: Aseyin of Iseyinland Hosts Grand Ramadan Lecture as Monarchs, Scholars and Government Leaders Converge in Historic Spiritual Gathering

The ancient and culturally rich city of Iseyin witnessed a remarkable display of royal prestige, spiritual devotion, and communal unity as traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, community leaders, and top government officials gathered for the 3rd Annual Aseyin Ramadan Lecture.

The highly revered event was hosted by Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola Adeyeri III, the Aseyin of Iseyinland, whose leadership and commitment to spiritual and community development have continued to elevate the status of Iseyin within Oyo State and the broader Oke-Ogun region.

Held during the holy month of Ramadan, the lecture served not only as a religious gathering but also as an important platform for reflection, interfaith harmony, and discussions on community progress.

A Grand Assembly of Royalty and Dignitaries

The event drew an impressive array of monarchs and dignitaries from across the state, reaffirming the prestige of the Aseyin stool and the growing significance of the Ramadan lecture series.

One of the most notable moments was the representation of the revered Olubadan of Ibadanland, who was ably represented by the Osi Olubadan, further emphasizing the solidarity among Yoruba traditional institutions.

Also present were several respected monarchs and members of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, including:

Their presence underscored the importance of unity among traditional rulers and highlighted the deep respect accorded to the Aseyin throne across Yoruba land.

Oyo State Government Representation

The Oyo State Government was also prominently represented at the gathering.

Hon. Ajibade attended the lecture on behalf of the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Bayo Lawal. In his remarks, he conveyed the Deputy Governor’s warm greetings and goodwill to the royal fathers, Islamic scholars, and distinguished guests present.

He explained that the Deputy Governor was unable to attend due to an urgent official assignment on behalf of the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, but reiterated the administration’s deep appreciation for the leadership role of traditional institutions in promoting peace and development across the state.

Anticipation as Renowned Islamic Scholar Delivers Lecture

A major highlight of the event was the keynote lecture delivered by the highly respected Islamic scholar Sheikh Muyideen Salman, the Chief Imam of Offa.

Widely known for his powerful teachings and intellectual depth, Sheikh Salman’s presence drew great anticipation among attendees, many of whom traveled from different parts of the region to listen to his message.

The lecture began with an introduction by Shehu Raji Ashile, who warmly welcomed the distinguished scholar and offered prayers and greetings to the Olofa of Offa, the Chief Imam of Iseyin, and the collective body of Islamic clerics present.

His opening remarks helped set a tone of reverence, unity, and spiritual reflection befitting the sacred period of Ramadan.

Strengthening Community Bonds

Beyond its spiritual dimension, the lecture also served as a gathering point for influential community leaders committed to the growth and development of Iseyin.

Among the notable personalities present were:

Alhaji Mudasiru Azeez, representing the Iseyin Development Union

Alhaji Adisa Aleshinloye, respected businessman and community leader

Colonel Adegbola, representing the interests of security veterans and community safety

Their participation highlighted the deep connection between the traditional institution and the broader community, demonstrating how cultural leadership, civic engagement, and religious guidance can work together to drive societal progress.

A Growing Tradition of Spiritual and Intellectual Dialogue
