As Africa commemorates another historic Africa Day on May 25, frontline House of Representatives aspirant for Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency, Oluwatobi John Ogunbayo, has extended a powerful message of hope, unity, youth inclusion and progressive political consciousness to the people of the constituency and Nigerians at large.
Africa Day, globally recognized every May 25, marks the establishment of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) in 1963 — the institution that later evolved into the African Union (AU). The day remains a symbolic reminder of Africa’s collective struggle for liberation, self-determination, economic development and continental unity.
In a specially curated goodwill message, Hon. Oluwatobi John Ogunbayo (OJO) described Africa Day as “a reminder that true leadership is built on sacrifice, people-centered governance, accountability and the courage to pursue generational transformation.”
According to him, the struggles of Africa’s founding fathers must inspire today’s emerging political leaders to prioritize sustainable development, quality representation, empowerment and inclusive governance capable of restoring public confidence in democracy.
Speaking on the significance of the day, OJO emphasized that Nigeria, particularly Oyo State and the people of Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency, possess enormous human capital, entrepreneurial strength and intellectual resources capable of driving a new era of prosperity if properly represented.
He noted that the future of governance must go beyond political slogans and focus on practical legislative solutions that address unemployment, youth empowerment, education, infrastructural renewal, healthcare accessibility, business support systems and grassroots economic growth.
“Africa Day is not merely a celebration of history; it is a call to action for visionary leadership, political responsibility and collective progress. Our people deserve responsive representation that understands their daily realities and fights passionately for their interests at the national level,” OJO stated.
The aspirant further reiterated his commitment to building a people-oriented political movement driven by competence, accessibility, innovation and genuine service to humanity.
Observers within the political space have continued to identify Hon. Oluwatobi John Ogunbayo (OJO) as one of the emerging progressive voices whose growing popularity among youths, market leaders, professionals and grassroots stakeholders reflects increasing public demand for a fresh and result-driven approach to representation in Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency.
Political analysts also believe that conversations surrounding the 2027 general elections are gradually shifting toward capacity, visibility, grassroots engagement and community impact — qualities many supporters say OJO consistently embodies.
As Africa Day celebrations continue across the continent, Hon. Oluwatobi John Ogunbayo (OJO) called on Nigerians, especially young people, to remain hopeful, politically conscious and actively involved in shaping a better democratic future.
He concluded by urging leaders across all levels to embrace integrity, unity, patriotism and developmental politics capable of repositioning Nigeria and Africa for greatness in the global community.
“Together, we can build a constituency that becomes a model of effective representation, empowerment and sustainable progress. The future belongs to leaders who genuinely serve the people,” he added.
