Concerned Igbeti APC Youths Demand Immediate Cancellation of “Fraudulent” Primary, Warn Party Leaders Against Sacrificing Grassroots Loyalty for Personal Interests
The recent primary election conducted for the House of Representatives ticket in Oyo State has left thousands of committed APC members across Old Irepo Federal Constituency deeply wounded, disappointed, and angry. What should have been a transparent democratic process has now become a source of division, bitterness, and growing rebellion within the party.
Across Irepo, Oorelope, and Olorunsogo Local Governments, one message is echoing loudly from the grassroots: Hon. Bosun Oladele is not the choice of the people.
This is not propaganda. This is the painful reality on the ground.
The pronouncement of Hon. Bosun Oladele as the preferred candidate by party directive triggered massive boycott of the primary election by party faithful who felt betrayed and sidelined. The anger among APC members is so intense that many have openly declared: “If it is Bosun Oladele, we are ready to spoil the party.” These are not empty threats. They are reflections of the deep frustration currently tearing through the grassroots structure of APC in Old Irepo Federal Constituency.
We must speak the truth, no matter how bitter.
Elections are not won on paper. Elections are won through acceptance, connection with the people, and the ability to mobilize genuine support from the grassroots. Until the midnight of May 16, 2026, information available to party faithful indicated clearly that the preferred candidate of the people was also the preferred choice of the party leadership. Suddenly, everything changed under questionable circumstances that many members now describe as manipulation against the will of the people.
Hon. Badmos Bashir Adeola remains the undisputed grassroots candidate within the constituency. For years, he has invested his time, resources, and energy into building and sustaining APC structures across the federal constituency. He has consistently stood with party members during difficult times, empowered youths and elders alike, and maintained people-oriented programmes both within and outside the party.
His political strength is organic. His acceptance is natural. His connection with the people is unquestionable.
From ward to ward, community to community, market to market, the people identify with him because they see him as one of their own. His name inspires confidence among youths, elders, women, and loyal APC stakeholders who have sacrificed for the growth of this party over the years.
Today, many party members feel abandoned.
The painful reality is that APC risks losing Old Irepo Federal Constituency if this injustice is allowed to stand. This is not speculation; it is a verifiable fact known across the constituency. Opposition parties are already celebrating openly because they believe APC has handed them victory on a platter by presenting a candidate many grassroots members cannot support.
This development has created a dangerous atmosphere capable of weakening party unity ahead of the general election.
Let it be clear: this protest is not driven by hatred or personal vendetta against Hon. Bosun Oladele. It is driven by genuine concern for the survival of APC in Old Irepo Federal Constituency. A political party cannot continue to impose candidates against the wishes of the people and still expect loyalty, commitment, and electoral victory.
What happened during this primary has left many members questioning whether the sacrifices of loyal party faithful still matter within APC.
We strongly appeal to the leadership of the party to listen to the cries coming from the grassroots before it is too late. The current situation demands urgent intervention. We call on APC leaders at both the state and national levels to immediately review the outcome of this controversial primary election and order a fresh process under strict monitoring, transparency, and fairness.
Let the real will of the people prevail.
Let the actual votes count.
Let the party test the popularity of every aspirant through a credible process rather than through what many now describe as self-written results and self-imposed victory declarations.
History has repeatedly shown that political arrogance destroys parties faster than opposition attacks. APC must not make the costly mistake of sacrificing electoral victory for personal interests and backdoor arrangements.
The interest of the party must come before individual ambition.
We remain loyal members of APC, and our loyalty to the party remains unquestionable. But loyalty must never become slavery. Loyalty must be rewarded with fairness, justice, and respect for democratic principles.
Give the people a candidate they believe in, and victory is guaranteed.
Ignore the voice of the grassroots, and APC may suffer one of its most painful political losses in Old Irepo Federal Constituency.
The time for reflection is now. The time for action is now.
Before it becomes too late.
