A Nigerian woman identified as Abdulahi Rukayat Oluwaremilekun, popularly known online for her extremely tiny waist appearance, has once again stirred heated reactions across social media after revealing shocking details about her body transformation journey.
Rukayat, whose viral interview with content creator Egungun of Lagos gained widespread attention, claimed that she removed 20 ribs from her body to achieve her controversial hourglass figure. According to her, each rib was allegedly sold for $600, bringing the total amount to $12,000 — an equivalent of over ₦16 million depending on current exchange rates.
The revelation has triggered intense conversations online, with many Nigerians questioning the health implications, authenticity, and long-term consequences of such an extreme cosmetic procedure.
During the interview that went viral on social media platforms, Rukayat disclosed that she now reportedly has only four ribs left, adding that two of the remaining ribs are bent. She explained that the surgery was carried out as part of what she described as a “rib reconstruction” process aimed at correcting her irregular hip shape and achieving her desired body figure.
The controversial influencer also admitted that the surgery came with life-changing consequences. According to her earlier statements, she may not be able to give birth naturally due to complications connected to the procedure. That particular confession has further intensified public concern, especially among medical professionals and social commentators who continue to debate the dangers associated with extreme body modification.
Her story immediately exploded across Nigerian social media, with users flooding comment sections with mixed reactions ranging from sympathy to criticism, shock, and sarcasm.
Several Nigerians openly questioned whether the claims were medically possible, especially the statement about being left with only four ribs. Human anatomy experts and online commentators pointed out that the average human body contains 24 ribs arranged in 12 pairs, which play vital roles in protecting essential organs such as the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, and major blood vessels.
Popular Nigerian health influencer and medical doctor, Aproko Doctor, also reacted to the trending interview, expressing concern over the level of misinformation circulating online. In reaction to the viral video, he reportedly wrote:
> “We need to go back to basic education.”
Other social media users questioned the long-term impact of the surgery on her health, posture, breathing, pregnancy possibilities, and organ protection.
Despite the criticism, some users defended Rukayat’s decision, insisting that adults should have the freedom to make choices about their own bodies regardless of public opinion. Others argued that society’s obsession with unrealistic beauty standards continues to pressure young women into dangerous cosmetic alterations in search of validation, fame, or online attention.
The incident has also reopened wider conversations about cosmetic surgery trends in Nigeria and across social media culture globally. In recent years, extreme body enhancement procedures — including BBL surgeries, liposuction, fillers, and waist reconstruction — have become increasingly popular among influencers and aspiring celebrities seeking viral attention or a “perfect” body image.
However, medical experts continue to warn about the serious risks associated with unregulated cosmetic surgeries, especially procedures performed outside properly certified medical facilities.
As debates continue online, many Nigerians remain divided over the issue. While some see Rukayat’s transformation as a matter of personal choice and bodily autonomy, others believe the risks involved may never justify the outcome.
One question still dominates social media conversations:
Was achieving the “tiniest waist” really worth sacrificing so much?
As the controversy continues trending, one thing is certain — the internet never stays quiet when beauty, money, and shock value collide.
