“We Don’t Know What to Believe Anymore” — Oyo APC Primary Descends Into Result Confusion and Political Drama

Oyo APC Governorship Primary Controversy Deepens as Conflicting Results Fuel Tension Between Adelabu and Alli Camps

Fresh controversy has continued to trail the reported outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary process in Oyo State, as conflicting claims, unverified figures, and competing victory narratives dominate political discussions across the state.

In recent hours, several online platforms and political supporters have circulated different sets of results allegedly showing outcomes from consultations and delegate alignments ahead of the APC governorship race. Some of the trending reports claim that serving members of the House of Representatives and senators from Oyo State have endorsed the governorship ambition of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu.

However, many party supporters and observers have questioned the authenticity of some of the figures currently being circulated online, describing them as old, unverified, and politically motivated materials allegedly intended to strengthen Adelabu’s momentum ahead of the party’s anticipated governorship primary.

The controversy intensified after videos and grassroots reports emerged from APC Ward 3 in Ibadan North, where supporters claimed the area appeared to be heavily dominated by loyalists of Senator Sharafadeen Alli. According to several party members present at the venue, the atmosphere and turnout reportedly suggested overwhelming support for Alli.

Despite this, some result sheets and vote tallies currently making rounds online allegedly showed Adelabu recording a wide margin of victory in the same area, creating confusion among party faithful and political observers.

The conflicting narratives have left many supporters uncertain about which reports truly reflect the political reality on the ground.

“We don’t even know what to believe anymore,” a party supporter in Ibadan stated while reacting to the differing reports circulating on social media.

Meanwhile, several political groups and influential stakeholders have openly congratulated Senator Sharafadeen Alli over what they described as a massive grassroots triumph within the APC structure.

One of the most notable congratulatory messages came from the JDS Okanlomo Oodua/Bada Olubadan group linked to businessman and philanthropist Jubril Dotun Sanusi.

In a statement released by the group, Senator Alli was congratulated for what was described as a “landslide victory” at the APC governorship primary election. The statement claimed that Alli polled 578,143 votes, a figure that has also generated debate among political stakeholders due to the absence of any officially released statewide primary result from the APC leadership at the time of reporting.

The group described the reported outcome as evidence of the confidence and trust Oyo APC members allegedly have in Alli’s leadership style, political experience, and vision for the state.

According to the statement, the victory represented more than personal success for the senator, insisting that it symbolized the collective desire of progressive-minded citizens seeking a new political direction in Oyo State.

The statement also appreciated members of the APC, the ROCOF/JDS political structure, market leaders, party loyalists, and grassroots supporters whose efforts and mobilization were said to have contributed to the reported success.

In addition, the group argued that the alleged outcome demonstrated growing unity and strength within the APC ahead of the 2027 governorship election battle in Oyo State.

“Today’s victory is not just for one individual, but for every progressive voice yearning for a better and prosperous Oyo State,” part of the statement read.

Political analysts, however, believe the circulation of multiple claims before official confirmation reflects the growing intensity of the APC governorship battle in Oyo State, where several influential political blocs are already positioning ahead of the party’s eventual ticket decision.

Observers have also warned party supporters against spreading unverified election figures capable of escalating internal tensions or misleading the public.

As of the time of filing this report, the Oyo State chapter of the APC had yet to issue a comprehensive official statement confirming the authenticity of the various figures and victory claims currently circulating online.

With both the Adelabu and Alli camps continuing to project confidence, political tension within the APC appears far from over, while supporters across Oyo State await clearer direction from party authorities regarding the true status of the governorship race.
