“Your sacrifices may not always make headlines, but the lives you transform will forever tell your story.”
As the world marks Teachers’ Day, the Leader of the Ona Ara Local Government Councillors, Hon. Oluwafemi Abolade Gabriel, popularly known as Yerima, has extended warm greetings and heartfelt appreciation to teachers across Ona Ara Local Government, Oyo State and Nigeria for their invaluable contributions to education and human development.
Hon. Yerima described teachers as more than classroom instructors, emphasizing their critical role as builders of character, moulders of future leaders and partners in the development of a prosperous society.
According to him, every lesson delivered, every student encouraged and every young mind guided represents an investment in the future of the community and the nation.
«“Teachers are among the most important nation-builders we have. They do not merely teach subjects; they shape character, inspire ambition and prepare young people to become responsible citizens and future leaders.”»
The Ona Ara political leader acknowledged the sacrifices and challenges confronting educators, noting that teaching requires patience, discipline, resilience and an unwavering commitment to the growth of others.
He therefore used the occasion to commend teachers for remaining dedicated to their profession despite the numerous challenges associated with educating the next generation.
Hon. Yerima further stressed that the development of any community cannot be separated from the quality of education available to its children.
He said that a society that genuinely desires sustainable development must continue to value its teachers, support educational institutions and create an environment where educators can perform their responsibilities effectively.
A Message to Teachers in Ona Ara
Speaking particularly to teachers within Ona Ara Local Government, Hon. Yerima expressed his appreciation for their daily efforts in shaping the lives of children and young people across the communities.
He acknowledged that the influence of a good teacher often extends far beyond the classroom, with lessons in discipline, integrity, hard work and perseverance becoming lifelong values that students carry into adulthood.
He prayed that God Almighty would continue to strengthen teachers, reward their dedication, bless their families and grant them the wisdom, resources and renewed energy required to continue making a positive difference.
«“Your contribution may sometimes appear invisible, but its impact is visible in every successful professional, responsible citizen, community leader and great Nigerian whose journey began in a classroom.”»
As a community-oriented political leader, Hon. Yerima reiterated the importance of placing education, youth development and human capital development at the centre of conversations about the future of Ona Ara.
He maintained that investing in people remains one of the surest pathways to building stronger communities and creating opportunities for the younger generation.
Celebrating Those Who Build the Future
Teachers’ Day, according to Hon. Yerima, should therefore not be regarded merely as a ceremonial occasion but as an opportunity for society to reflect on the enormous responsibilities teachers carry and the lasting impact of their work.
He called on parents, community leaders, government and other stakeholders to continue supporting educators and creating conditions that enable them to perform their duties with dignity and effectiveness.
While celebrating teachers, Hon. Yerima also reaffirmed his commitment to promoting initiatives and conversations that advance the welfare, education and development of the people of Ona Ara Local Government.
He concluded by celebrating teachers as indispensable partners in building a better future.
