Recent reports circulating on social media claim that Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of late gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu, has been sentenced to death by hanging. However, these claims are *false*. As of now, no court has delivered such a verdict.
Peter Nwachukwu was arrested in April 2022 following allegations of domestic violence leading to the death of his wife, Osinachi, known for her hit song "Ekwueme." The Federal Government filed a 23-count charge against him, including culpable homicide, under sections 104 and 379 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, and Section 221 of the Penal Code, which carries a potential death penalty if convicted.
On June 3, 2022, the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Wuse ordered that Nwachukwu be remanded in Kuje Correctional Facility pending trial. [2] He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
