Oyo State Launches Reconstruction of 3.78km Akala Way–Akobo Junction Road to Boost Urban Mobility and Economic Growth

The Oyo State Government has initiated the reconstruction of the 3.78-kilometer Akala Way–Akobo Junction road in Ibadan, marking a significant step in its ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure and stimulate economic development across the state. This project is part of a broader strategy to improve traffic flow, enhance connectivity within the Akobo axis, and support both residential and commercial growth in the surrounding communities.

The reconstruction of the Akala Way–Akobo Junction road is designed to address longstanding traffic congestion issues and to provide a more efficient transportation corridor for residents and businesses in the area. The upgraded road will feature modern drainage systems, improved road surfaces, and enhanced safety measures to ensure durability and user safety.

The Akala Way–Akobo Junction project is part of a series of infrastructure upgrades across Oyo State. Notably, the state government recently commissioned the 76.67-kilometer Adebayo Alao-Akala Memorial Highway, connecting Iseyin and Ogbomoso, to improve regional connectivity and support agricultural and commercial activities. Additionally, plans are underway to dualize the 8.3-kilometer Akobo-Olorunda Abaa road, further demonstrating the administration's dedication to comprehensive infrastructural development.
