Sheikh Agbotomokekere, born on May 4, 1935, hails from a distinguished lineage of Islamic scholars. His father, Abuubakr Agbotomokekere, served as the Grand Mufti of Ibadanland until 1954. Following in his father's footsteps, Sheikh Agbotomokekere has dedicated his life to Islamic scholarship and leadership. He became the Chief Imam of Ibadanland on May 15, 2015, after decades of service in various religious capacities, including as a teacher, preacher, and Grand Mufti .
Throughout his tenure, Sheikh Agbotomokekere has been instrumental in promoting peace and unity within the Muslim community and beyond. He has organized regular lectures, particularly on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, continuing his father's tradition. His efforts in conflict resolution and social development have further solidified his reputation as a unifying figure in Nigerian society.
