Oyo 2027 Twist: ‘If You Can’t Beat Him, Congratulate Him’ — APC Camps Rally Around Senator Alli

Oyo 2027: APC Aspirant AKK Congratulates Senator Sharafadeen Alli, Calls for Total Unity Ahead of Governorship Battle

The political atmosphere within the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State appears to be getting clearer as momentum continues to build around Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli following the party’s gubernatorial primary election. In what many observers are already describing as a major sign of emerging consensus within the progressive camp, one of the governorship aspirants, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (popularly known as AKK), has formally congratulated Senator Alli on his victory while also calling for unity among all stakeholders ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

In a detailed statement released on Friday, Dr. Kareem described Senator Alli’s victory as “resounding” and a reflection of his growing acceptance across the APC structure in Oyo State. According to AKK, the outcome of the primary election demonstrates the confidence party members and delegates have in the senator’s experience, political loyalty, administrative capacity, and grassroots appeal.

Dr. Kareem noted that the victory did not come as a surprise to many political watchers who have closely monitored Senator Alli’s influence within the progressive movement over the years. He emphasized that the senator’s long-standing political involvement, legislative contributions, and consistent relationship with party faithful positioned him strongly ahead of the primary contest.

The APC chieftain also extended congratulations to the leadership of the party at both national and state levels, praising delegates and supporters for what he described as a democratic process that produced a formidable candidate capable of leading the party into the next electoral cycle.

AKK further used the opportunity to commend members of his own political structure and supporters spread across the 33 Local Government Areas of Oyo State. According to him, the decision by his camp to step down shortly before the primary election and endorse Senator Alli has now been vindicated by the overwhelming outcome of the exercise.

He described the move as one guided by political maturity, foresight, and the desire to protect the collective interest of the APC ahead of the larger political battle against the ruling administration in the state.

Political analysts believe the development may signal the beginning of broader reconciliation efforts within the Oyo APC, especially as several stakeholders continue consultations aimed at presenting a united front ahead of the 2027 governorship election. There are already growing indications that more aspirants and party leaders may publicly align with Senator Alli in the coming days as internal negotiations continue.

Dr. Kareem stressed that the primary election should be seen as a family affair rather than a battlefield among enemies. He urged all co-aspirants and their supporters to close ranks and work together for the success of the party, warning that division within the progressive fold could weaken the APC’s chances in the general election.

According to him, the opposition remains outside the party structure, and only a united APC can successfully challenge the current administration in Oyo State. He therefore called for individual political structures to be harmonised into one formidable statewide movement capable of delivering victory for the party.

AKK reaffirmed that his political structure remains fully committed to the APC and would actively mobilise support across the state to ensure electoral success in 2027. He also expressed confidence in Senator Alli’s leadership qualities, describing him as a politician with the temperament, intellect, and administrative experience required to provide quality governance for the people of Oyo State.

Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, a respected political figure in Oyo State politics, currently serves as senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District. Over the years, he has remained a prominent voice within the APC and the broader progressive movement in the state.

As consultations and strategic alignments continue within the party, many political observers believe the latest endorsement from AKK may further strengthen Senator Alli’s position while accelerating efforts toward building consensus within the APC ahead of what is expected to be a fiercely contested governorship election in Oyo State.

For now, the message from party leaders appears increasingly clear — unity, reconciliation, and strategic collaboration may become the defining factors that shape the APC’s preparations for the 2027 governorship race in Oyo State.
