The Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye, has declared his unwavering support for the presidential ambition of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, insisting that Nigeria would be on a far better path if the governor were entrusted with the leadership of the country.
Hon. Akinleye made this known while receiving members of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Oyo State Aspirants Forum during a courtesy visit to his office at the Akinyele Local Government Secretariat, Moniya.
The delegation, which included Dr. Amuda Hafeez, Alhaja Oluwatoyin Fatima, Hon. Adenowo Oluwaseun Abiodun, Hon. Matthew Okeowo,Hon Dayo Busari, Hon. Olabisi Habibat Olabat and other members of the forum, stated that the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration with the party structure ahead of the forthcoming general elections. They emphasized that the forum was established to work harmoniously with party leaders and stakeholders to ensure the emergence and victory of all APM candidates, from the presidential flag bearer down to candidates contesting other elective positions.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the aspirants appealed for the support and guidance of the Akinyele Council Boss in achieving the forum's objectives. They expressed confidence in his leadership capacity and strategic political influence, noting that his contributions to the growth and success of the party have remained remarkable over the years. The forum reiterated its commitment to party unity, grassroots mobilization and electoral success, while seeking his backing in advancing the aspirations of members across the state.
In his response, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye showered encomiums on Governor Seyi Makinde, describing him as a visionary leader, promise keeper and administrator endowed with divine wisdom. He stated that his belief in the governor's leadership qualities informed his decision to throw his full weight behind Gov. Makinde's presidential ambition.
According to him, Nigeria would witness unprecedented progress under Makinde's leadership. "If Engr. Seyi Makinde were to be at the helm of affairs of this country, Nigeria would not be in the balablue situation we are today. There would be no renewed hardship and the nation would be telling a completely different story," he said. He further advised the aspirants to continue engaging critical stakeholders within the party, assuring them that their loyalty, dedication and sacrifices would not go unrewarded. He also immediately pledged his support towards the success of their mission.
Expressing appreciation after the meeting, Hon. Adenowo Oluwaseun Abiodun revealed that following their visit to the party's revered leader, Alhaji Olopoeyan, the forum deliberately chose Hon. Akinwole Akinleye as its next point of contact because of his consistent efforts and strategic contributions to the advancement of the party. He noted that the chairman exceeded their expectations with the warm reception and encouragement extended to the group. The delegation thereafter offered prayers for Hon. Akinleye's continued success and for the overall victory of the Allied Peoples Movement in the forthcoming elections.
