Born on May 10, 1973, into the prestigious Alapa Ruling House of Isale Ora, Ita Alasa, Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo State, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu has built a distinguished career spanning engineering, real estate development, public service, and community leadership.
A highly accomplished civil engineer, he obtained his Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna). Beyond his academic qualifications, he has strengthened his leadership and management capacity through executive education programmes at globally respected institutions, including Harvard University, United States, and London Business School, United Kingdom.
Engr. Salawu's professional journey reflects decades of commitment to infrastructure development and national progress. During his service with the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), he played key roles in several developmental initiatives within the Federal Capital Territory. Among his notable contributions were projects aimed at upgrading rural healthcare facilities into fully functional hospitals, as well as participation in major housing development schemes designed to improve living standards and expand access to affordable accommodation.
In the private sector, he has established himself as one of Nigeria's respected real estate and infrastructure entrepreneurs. As the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Opinior Engineering Company Limited, Engr. Salawu has overseen the development of numerous residential projects across the country. Under his leadership, the company has successfully developed 11 housing estates and delivered more than 1,000 housing units, contributing significantly to Nigeria's housing and urban development landscape.
His dedication to public service has also earned him several strategic appointments within Oyo State Government. He previously served as Special Adviser on Works and Transport, where he contributed to policy formulation and infrastructure-related initiatives. He later served as Executive Assistant on Project Monitoring, a position through which he helped strengthen accountability and oversight in government projects.
In 2024, his experience and competence led to his appointment as the Pioneer Chairman of the Oyo State Project Performance Monitoring Agency, an institution established to improve project delivery, ensure transparency, and monitor the implementation of government infrastructure and development programmes across the state.
