President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 individuals into the leadership of 10 key Federal Government agencies and commissions, in what the Presidency describes as part of its ongoing effort to strengthen public institutions and improve governance across strategic sectors of the Nigerian economy.
The appointments, announced in a State House press release signed by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, take immediate effect.
Among the most notable appointments is former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, who has been named Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). The REA plays a critical role in expanding electricity access to underserved and rural communities through off-grid and renewable energy projects, making it one of the Federal Government's key agencies for improving electricity penetration nationwide.
Fayose will lead the REA board alongside the agency's Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, while Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta have been appointed as members and non-executive directors. The board also includes the three executive directors previously appointed to the agency.
President Tinubu also approved the appointment of Major General Junaid Bindawa (Rtd.) as Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, the statutory body responsible for advising the Federal Government on salary structures, wages and remuneration policies for public sector workers.
Former member of the House of Representatives from Lagos State, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was appointed Secretary of the Commission. Other newly appointed commissioners include Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo) and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna).
Additional members of the commission are Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
In another major development, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who had earlier been appointed Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), has now been redeployed to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
The President also approved the appointment of Dr. Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), while Dr. Akinola Odeyemi becomes the new Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET), an institution central to Nigeria's electricity market and power sector reforms.
Also appointed is Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin, who will serve as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
At the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM) in Kwara State, President Tinubu appointed Engineer Julius Oloro, a former local government council chairman, as the new Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds Dr. A.R. Kamal, who passed away in January.
The President equally constituted a new board for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, appointing Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman. Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
In the education sector, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu'aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was earlier reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).
President Tinubu also filled the vacancy at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) by appointing Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director (Finance). Iorja replaces Mathias Byuan, who resigned from the position to pursue his governorship ambition in Benue State. An economist, legal scholar and academic, Iorja currently serves as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).
According to the Presidency, all 26 appointments take immediate effect and are aimed at strengthening institutional leadership, improving service delivery and supporting the administration's ongoing governance and economic reform agenda across critical sectors of the Federal Government.
The appointments were officially announced by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, in a State House press release dated July 20, 2026.
