Ibadan North-West/South-West Federal Constituency Aspirant Hails Women’s Mobilisation, Inclusive Leadership and Renewed Hope Agenda
Hon. Oluwatobi John Ogunbayo (OJO), an aspirant for the House of Representatives representing the Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency, has warmly welcomed the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Distinguished Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, to Ibadan, Oyo State, describing her visit as an important opportunity to strengthen grassroots engagement, inclusive political participation and community mobilisation.
Ogunbayo, in a goodwill and welcome message, expressed his delight at the First Lady’s arrival in Oyo State for the inauguration of the Oyo State Chapter of the Tinubu Torch Bearers (TTB), noting that initiatives that bring political stakeholders and citizens closer together can play a significant role in strengthening democratic participation.
According to OJO, the inauguration of the Tinubu Torch Bearers provides an avenue for greater engagement with communities at the grassroots while creating opportunities for citizens to understand, participate in and contribute to the policies and programmes associated with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
He noted that effective grassroots politics should go beyond election periods, stressing that sustained engagement, consultation and responsiveness to the concerns of ordinary citizens are essential ingredients of representative democracy.
Ogunbayo further emphasised the strategic importance of women in Nigeria’s political and socio-economic development, describing women as critical stakeholders whose participation is indispensable to meaningful community mobilisation, nation-building and democratic progress.
He said the involvement of women in political organisation and civic engagement should continue to receive greater attention, particularly as Nigeria approaches another election cycle in 2027.
The Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency aspirant commended the First Lady for her continued advocacy around issues affecting women, families and vulnerable members of society, while expressing optimism that her presence in Oyo State would further energise political and community stakeholders committed to grassroots development.
OJO also called for constructive collaboration among political leaders, community stakeholders, youth organisations, women’s groups and other relevant actors, noting that sustainable political progress is best achieved when leadership is anchored on consultation, inclusion and service to the people.
He stressed that political mobilisation should ultimately translate into stronger community participation and a renewed commitment to democratic values, rather than being limited to electoral calculations.
“On behalf of myself, my supporters and the good people who share our vision for a stronger and more responsive representation for the Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency, I warmly welcome Your Excellency, Distinguished Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, to the historic city of Ibadan.
“Your visit to Oyo State is significant, particularly at a time when strengthening grassroots engagement, encouraging women’s participation and building broader stakeholder collaboration remain important to our democratic development.
“I am confident that the inauguration of the Tinubu Torch Bearers in Oyo State will provide another platform for meaningful engagement with our people and contribute to a stronger connection between leadership and the grassroots.
“On my part, I remain committed to a politics of service, inclusion, youth empowerment, community development and effective representation. Our people deserve leadership that listens, engages and delivers, and this is the vision I will continue to champion for the Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency.”
Ogunbayo further expressed optimism that the First Lady’s engagement in Oyo State would inspire greater cooperation among stakeholders and encourage more citizens, particularly women and young people, to participate actively in political and community affairs.
He reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peaceful political participation, responsible leadership and grassroots development, while calling on political stakeholders to sustain a culture of dialogue and issue-based engagement as the nation moves toward the 2027 general elections.
“Welcome to Ibadan, Your Excellency. Oyo State is honoured to receive you. We wish you a successful, impactful and memorable engagement with our people,” OJO added.
For Ogunbayo, the road to 2027 should be defined not merely by political competition, but by a renewed conversation about representation, accountability, inclusion and the kind of leadership capable of delivering tangible dividends of democracy to the people of Ibadan North-West and Ibadan South-West.
