Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has continued his nationwide consultations ahead of the 2027 presidential election, taking the party’s “Reset Nigeria” message to Lafia, Nasarawa State, for the APM North-Central Town Hall Meeting.
In a Facebook post following the engagement, Makinde thanked residents of Nasarawa for hosting the meeting and said the concerns raised by participants would form part of the considerations in developing the party’s manifesto.
“Thank you, our good people in Nasarawa, for hosting the APM North Central Town Hall Meeting today. We have taken note of all issues highlighted during the meeting and we will ensure that our manifesto reflects the feedback we receive from each zone.”
The Lafia meeting is part of a wider series of zonal town halls announced by the APM as a platform for direct engagement with citizens and stakeholders across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. The campaign organisation has described the engagements as issue-based and citizen-driven, with discussions focused on national stability, citizens’ welfare and the effective use of public resources.
Makinde also expressed appreciation to His Royal Highness, Hon. Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I (Rtd), CFR, the Emir of Lafia, for receiving him and the APM delegation.

The Emir of Lafia, Sidi Bage Muhammad, has in recent public engagements emphasised peaceful coexistence and community development in Nasarawa State.
The North-Central engagement comes at a significant stage of Makinde’s emerging presidential campaign. Reports indicate that the governor arrived in Nasarawa ahead of the Lafia town hall after engaging APM candidates from the North-Central zone in a closed-door meeting. The zone comprises Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger and Plateau states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory.
At the town hall, Makinde presented elements of his proposed “Reset Nigeria” agenda, which he said would focus on security, education, the economy and Nigeria’s socio-political environment. He said the proposed reforms could be implemented within four years if he wins the 2027 presidential election.
Security featured prominently in his message, particularly in relation to the North-Central region, where insecurity remains a major public concern. Makinde questioned the planning and budgetary provisions behind the proposed expansion of military formations, arguing that addressing insecurity requires adequate funding, planning and implementation.
On the economy, he also questioned whether increased allocations to state governments from the Federation Account had translated into meaningful improvements in citizens’ living conditions, particularly in relation to hunger and economic hardship.
For Makinde, the Lafia meeting represents another stage in his effort to gather views from different parts of the country before finalising the APM manifesto.
His message was summed up in a pledge:
“We will reset Nigeria so that it works for all Nigerians.”
The continuing town hall consultations therefore place citizen feedback at the centre of the APM’s stated approach to developing its 2027 presidential agenda, with the party expected to incorporate issues raised across the various geopolitical zones into its manifesto.
