Why We Followed Bisi Olopoeyan to APM from PDP, Says Sunday Adeleke

By Oyeniyi Esan

The Founder and Proponent of the SAO Group, a socio-political and humanitarian organisation, and chieftain of the Allied People's Movement (APM), Mr. Sunday Adeleke, has disclosed that Alhaji Bisi Olopoeyan remains a formidable political force with a strong party structure at both the state and national levels, describing his leadership as worthy of genuine followership.

Adeleke made the remarks while speaking on the recent movement of his political associates and supporters from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied People's Movement (APM), alongside other political stakeholders who have chosen to identify with Olopoeyan's new political platform.

According to him, the decision to move to the APM was largely influenced by the confidence and trust that he and other members of the group have in Olopoeyan's political leadership.

He said the defection was not merely a change of political platform but a continuation of a political relationship built over time, stressing that his loyalty to Olopoeyan remains firm despite the transition from the PDP to the APM.

Adeleke noted that Olopoeyan had demonstrated the political capacity to build and sustain a formidable organisation, adding that his influence extends beyond a single political party.

He said the emergence of the new political structure has provided an opportunity for him and other loyalists to work together under a platform where they can further contribute to the political development of Oyo State.

"We followed our leader because we believe in his leadership. For us, it is about loyalty, confidence and the political direction we have chosen to pursue together," Adeleke stated.

The APM chieftain reaffirmed his commitment to working with Olopoeyan and other members of the party to strengthen the party structure at the grassroots.

He said the new political arrangement would not diminish the relationship between him and his political leader, but rather provide another platform through which they could continue their political engagement and mobilisation.

Adeleke further called on members and supporters of the emerging structure to remain united, disciplined and committed to the collective political objectives of the party.

He maintained that the strength of any political organisation depends largely on the commitment of its members and the ability of its leadership to provide direction.

He therefore expressed confidence in Olopoeyan's leadership, saying he remained committed to the political journey with his leader and would continue to support the development of the new APM structure.
