President Ruto Jokes About Daughters Marrying Nigerians: “Are Our Guys Slow?”

At a recent event, Kenyan President William Ruto humorously remarked on both his daughters marrying Nigerian men, quipping, “My daughter is married to a Nigerian, and this one now is married to a Nigerian. Are our guys slow? I don't know. We need to balance this scale.”

In May 2021, Ruto's firstborn, June Ruto, wed Dr. Alexander Ezenagu, a Nigerian international tax law expert and Assistant Professor at Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar. Their union followed a traditional engagement ceremony in Nairobi, blending Kalenjin and Igbo cultures.

Dr. Ezenagu boasts impressive academic credentials, including a Ph.D. in International Tax Law from McGill University and an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge. June Ruto serves as Kenya’s Charge d’Affaires in Poland.
